The increasing reliance on photovoltaic (PV) generation as a cornerstone of carbon neutrality has led to transformative changes in the energy structure, further impacting electricity market trading mechanisms and price volatility. The electric power system reform also promoted wholesale trading in the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX) spot market. This study explores an effective JEPX spot market price forecasting model that enables PV power suppliers to make informed production decisions and ensure revenue optimization. We found that understanding the net demand (total demand minus PV generation) is crucial for accurate price forecasting, as it allows for a more precise reflection of the gradual evolution of the solar-dominated energy structure of the dynamic electricity demand. We also conducted parameter tests and a comparative analysis of different training loops and periods in the basic form using an artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector regression (SVR) algorithms. The results indicated that the narrow ANN and SVR models with a linear kernel function and training in the continuous loop method performed better in spot market price forecasting than other model settings. Our proposed approach can provide essential insights into future price trends, facilitating informed sustainable energy planning and resource allocation for power generation to guarantee the benefits of achieving solar promotion and net-zero transition.

ABSTRACTNatural pigments derived from microorganisms have many advantages and are widely studied in the food industry. A filamentous fungus, DBFL05, was identified as Aspergillus ustus, which produces a bright and abundant brown pigment. This extracellular, water-soluble pigment is highly polar and slightly soluble in alcohol but insoluble in other organic solvents. The pigment is stable under sunlight, at pH 2–10, and below 100°C. However, it is sensitive to Zn2+, Fe3+, Fe2+, and Cu2+. The pigment is mainly composed of two chemical components, pyrropyrazine diketone and dianthrone, and is classified as a polyketone pigment. Both components of the pigment exhibit inhibitory effects on bacteria and scavenging abilities for •OH and DPPH. The pigment showed no significant toxicity to plants and low toxicity to brine shrimp larvae. These findings indicate that the easily obtainable A. ustus pigment is a polyketone with attractive colour, stability, safety, and bioactivity.

The core-shell structure Fe3O4@C magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized with superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanosphere as a magnetic core, and soluble starch resin as a carbon source via a solvothermal method. Silica-iron oxide and Fe3O4@C carriers with a core-shell structure were prepared by carbonization of organic material on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles, Fe3O4@C supported Pd were processed into magnetic nano-catalysts with core-shell structure, and their catalytic properties were investigated. The resulting environmentally friendly magnetic material can be used to degrade dye wastewater. The structure of magnetic nanoparticles was characterized using TEM, XRD and VSM. The effects of preparation conditions in the structure of the Fe3O4@C magnetic nanoparticles were taken out. The results indicate that from XRD, the magnetic nano particles Fe3O4@C synthesized of carbon sources have amorphous carbon diffraction peak except for all the characteristic peaks of Fe3O4. The saturation magnetization Fe3O4, Fe3O4@SiO2 and Fe3O4@C – 59.14 emu/g, 49.12 emu/g and 27.95 emu/g, respectively.

To make the polyimide (PI) composite material having both heat resistance and magnetic permeability, Fe3O4/PI magnetic polyimide composite powder was synthesized by one-step solvothermal method. 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA) as monomers, ether anhydride polyamic acid (PAA) was designed and prepared by Fe3+ and polyimide precursor-polyamic acid triethylamine salt (PAAS) was reacted in a reactor, and the PI/Fe3O4 composite powders were synthesized under the condition of high temperature and high pressure. The obtained PI/Fe3O4 composite powders were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy, microscopic morphology and thermal properties. The morphology and structure of the samples were both characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). The thermal properties of the composite microspheres were studied via thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and the magnetic properties were determined by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The saturation magnetization decreases gradually, increasing the polyimide content, with a saturation magnetization of PI/Fe3O4 determined to be 20.29 emu/g.

Evaluating the spatial matching pattern of agricultural water environment and economy-resource factors, identifying the spatial mismatch areas, and optimizing the management of agricultural water pollution on this basis is the key to alleviating the agricultural water crisis and promoting green agricultural production. This article selected the data related to agricultural water pollution and economy-resource factors of 18 cities in Henan Province from 2006 to 2020. First, the agricultural grey water footprint (GWFagri) was calculated, and the spatial matching pattern between GWFagri and economy-resource factors was analyzed where the Gini coefficient and Imbalance Index were applied. Then, based on the areas of spatial mismatch, a multi-objective programming model was introduced to establish three functions of “Maximizing agricultural GDP-Minimizing agricultural water pollution-Minimizing agricultural water resources loss.” The study found that: (1) During the study period, GWFagri and the grey water footprint of the breeding industry (GWFbre) in Henan Province demonstrated a downward trend, while the grey water footprint of the planting industry (GWFpla) has a more stable trend. (2) In general, Gini coefficients between GWFagri and agricultural GDP, as well as that between GWFagri and the planting area were both between 0 and 0.2, with good spatial matching. The spatial mismatch between GWFbre and various economy-resource factors was slightly higher than that of GWFpla. (3) After optimization, GWFagri of Henan Province decreased by 16.04%in 2020. The Gini coefficients between GWFagri and economy-resource factors decreased by 12.261%, 4.470% and 3.157% respectively. The results can provide specific policy recommendations for improving agricultural water pollution and achieving coordinated and unified development of urban economy, ecology, and resources.

Abstract Background Probiotics have been deemed multipotent and unprecedentedly applied in the health field recently. However, there are challenges in promoting credible and reliable resources while avoiding misinformation regarding probiotics for the public. Methods This study analysed 400 eligible probiotic-related videos selected from YouTube, and the three most popular video-sharing platforms (Bilibili, Weibo and TikTok) in China. Video retrieval was performed on September 5th, 2022. GQS and tailored DISCERN tool assess each video’s quality, usage, and reliability. A comparative analysis of videos from different sources was carried out. Results The identity distribution of probiotic video-producers was predominantly experts (n = 202, 50.50%), followed by amateurs (n = 161, 40.25%) and health-related institutions (n = 37, 9.25%). The videos’ content category mainly discussed the function of probiotics (n = 120, 30%), the way to choose suitable products (n = 81, 20.25%), and the methods for taking probiotics (n = 71, 17.75%).The overall quality of videos was moderate (3/5 point) assessed by GQS, while the usage (1/6 point) and reliability (2/5 point) detailing probiotics assessed by tailored DISCERN tool were poor. In this work, a bimetallic sulfide-coupled graphene hybrid was designed and constructed for capacitive energy storage. The hybrid structure involved decorating copper–cobalt–sulfide (CuCo2S4) nanoparticles onto graphene layers, with the nanoparticles anchored within the graphene layers, forming a hybrid energy storage system. In this hybrid structure, rGO can work as the substrate and current collector to support the uniform distribution of the nanoparticles and provides efficient transportation of electrons into and out of the electrode. In the meantime, CuCo2S4-active materials are expected to offer an evident enhancement in electrochemical activities, due to the rich valence change provided by Cu and Co. Benefiting from the integrated structure of CuCo2S4 nanoparticles and highly conductive graphene substrates, the prepared CuCo2S4@rGO electrode exhibited a favorable capacitive performance in 1 M KOH. At 1 A g−1, CuCo2S4@rGO achieved a specific capacitance of 410 F g−1. The capacitance retention at 8 A g−1 was 70% of that observed at 1 A g−1, affirming the material’s excellent rate capability. At the current density of 5 A g−1, the electrode underwent 10,000 charge–discharge cycles, retaining 98% of its initial capacity, which indicates minimal capacity decay and showcasing excellent cycling performance.

Water used for production is the primary consumer of regional water. Water footprint reflects the actual water consumption of each product, which can reflect the intensity of water consumption of each production sector and the flow of water resources implied in the product trade. In this paper, the water footprint of each sector in Henan Province in 2017 was calculated using non-competitive input-output techniques. Furthermore, a dual-objective planning model that minimizes water resource export and maximizes labor compensation was established, based on which the export structure of the sector in the province was optimized. Research findings show that agriculture is the primary consuming sector of water resources from the direct water use perspective. In comparison, the food processing industry is the major consuming sector of water resources from the water footprint perspective. The difference in water resources consumed by sectors from the perspective of water footprint is smaller than that from the perspective of direct water use. Second, most water-intensive sectors have a relatively large water footprint of out-of-province use, which results in 52.75% of Henan Province's produced water being consumed outside the province. Third, the current export structure adjustment of sectors in Henan Province can achieve a Pareto improvement of water conservation and economic development. It is expected to save 14.65% of the province's export water resources and increase Henan Province's total exports by 170.61 billion (170.61 × 109) yuan and increase labor compensation by 39.76 billion yuan. This study can be used to optimize water allocation and improve sustainable water use in water-scarce regions. Objective Hook plate fixation is the traditional method for treating distal clavicle fractures. However, in recent years, locked plate applications have emerged as a promising treatment method. This study aimed to compare the short‐ and mid‐term clinical efficacy of anatomical locked plate fixation with coracoclavicular ligament augmentation using anchor nails to that of hook plate fixation in treating distal clavicle fractures. Methods This was a retrospective single‐center cohort study investigating patients with distal clavicle fractures treated between January 2016 and February 2019 in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. Fifty‐nine eligible patients who underwent either anatomical locked plate fixation with coracoclavicular ligament augmentation using anchor nails (LPF&CLA group; 20 patients) or clavicle hook plate fixation (CHPF group; 39 patients) were included. The visual analog scale (VAS) and Constant–Murley shoulder scores were used to assess shoulder function. In addition, the coracoclavicular distance between the affected and unaffected shoulders (ΔCC distance) was measured to assess the reduction. Patients were followed up at 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year postoperatively. The comparisons between the two groups were made using Student's t‐test, chi‐square test, or Fisher's exact test, if appropriate. Results Preoperative VAS scores were similar in both groups. At 3‐ and 6‐month follow‐up, the VAS score was significantly higher in the CHPF group than in the LPF&CLA group. In contrast, the Constant–Murley shoulder score was significantly lower in the CHPF group than in the LPF&CLA group. When the hook plates were removed, there was no statistical difference in both VAS (0.2 ± 0.4 in LPF&CLA group vs. 0.5 ± 0.5 in CHPF group, p = 0.05) and Constant–Murley shoulder (96.1 ± 3.1 in LPF&CLA group vs. 93.8 ± 5.2 in CHPF group, p = 0.08) scores at the last follow‐up. Postoperatively, the ΔCC distance was 2.37 ± 1.93 mm in the LPF&CLA group and −1.56 ± 1.34 mm in the CHPF group. One year after surgery, ΔCC distance increased to 3.96 ± 1.17 mm in the LPF&CLA group and to −0.89 ± 1.39 mm in the CHPF group. Conclusion For distal clavicle fractures in which the coracoclavicular ligament is disrupted, anatomical locked plate fixation with coracoclavicular ligament augmentation achieved better functional recovery and less pain than hook plate fixation at the 6‐month follow‐up. However, the hook plate provided better reduction throughout the follow‐up period and shoulder pain could be relieved using removal surgery. Therefore, locked plates with coracoclavicular ligament augmentation favors post‐surgery pain relief while harvesting similar functional outcomes to hook plate fixation

Abstract With the booming development of smart wearable devices, flexible multifunctional composites with high sensitivity and well health therapy have evoked great interest for next-generation healthcare electronics. However, the weak biocompatibility, low breathability, and narrow sensing range greatly hinder the development of healthcare sensors. Herein, a porous, flexible and conductive MXene/Polydimethylsiloxane/Polydopamine/Polyurethane Sponge (MXene/PDMS/PDA/PU) nanocomposite is developed as a promising motion-detecting device with good flexibility, breathability, sensing performance, photothermal therapy and antibacterial activity. Benefiting from the porous structure and biocompatible surface, this multifunctional sensor is further fabricated into a diagnostic and therapeutic system for monitoring human body motion and performing hot therapy/antibacterial treatment in the application of sports injury site. Moreover, both the wireless smart insole and cushion are constructed to gait monitoring and sit position detecting. This multifunctional hybrid sponge not only demonstrates great potential for motion monitoring sensors but also exhibits wide potential in wearable medical assistive and therapeutic systems.

Increasing attention is being paid to the unique roles gut microbes play in both physiological and pathological processes. Crohn’s disease (CD) is a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract with unknown etiology. Currently, gastrointestinal infection has been proposed as one initiating factor of CD. Yersinia enterocolitica, a zoonotic pathogen that exists widely in nature, is one of the most common bacteria causing acute infectious gastroenteritis, which displays clinical manifestations similar to CD. However, the specific role of Y. enterocolitica in CD is controversial. In this Review, we discuss the current knowledge on how Y. enterocolitica and derived microbial compounds may link to the pathogenesis of CD. We highlight examples of Y. enterocolitica-targeted interventions in the diagnosis and treatment of CD, and provide perspectives for future basic and translational investigations on this topic.

BackgroundDietary management is considered a potential adjunctive treatment for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Short-video sharing platforms have enabled patients to obtain dietary advice more conveniently. However, accessing useful resources while avoiding misinformation is not an easy task for most patients. ObjectiveThis study aimed to evaluate the quality of the information in IBD diet–related videos on Chinese short-video sharing platforms. MethodsWe collected and extracted information from a total of 125 video samples related to the IBD diet on the 3 Chinese short-video sharing platforms with the most users: TikTok, Bilibili, and Kwai. Two independent physicians evaluated each video in terms of content comprehensiveness, quality (rated by Global Quality Score), and reliability (rated by a modified DISCERN tool). Finally, comparative analyses of the videos from different sources were conducted. ResultsThe videos were classified into 6 groups based on the identity of the uploaders, which included 3 kinds of medical professionals (ie, gastroenterologists, nongastroenterologists, and clinical nutritionists) and 3 types of non–medical professionals (ie, nonprofit organizations, individual science communicators, and IBD patients). The overall quality of the videos was poor. Further group comparisons demonstrated that videos from medical professionals were more instructive in terms of content comprehensiveness, quality, and reliability than those from non–medical professionals. Moreover, IBD diet–related recommendations from clinical nutritionists and gastroenterologists were of better quality than those from nongastroenterologists, while recommendations from nonprofit organizations did not seem to be superior to other groups of uploaders. ConclusionsThe overall quality of the information in IBD diet-related videos is unsatisfactory and varies significantly depending on the source. Videos from medical professionals, especially clinical nutritionists and gastroenterologists, may provide dietary guidance with higher quality for IBD patients.

Peptidylarginine deiminases (PADs) are the only enzyme class known to deiminate arginine residues into citrulline in proteins, a process known as citrullination. This is an important post-translational modification that functions in several physiological and pathological processes. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are generated by NETosis, a novel cell death in neutrophils and a double-edged sword in inflammation. Excessive activation of PADs and NETs is critically implicated in their transformation from a physiological to a pathological state. Herein, we review the physiological and pathological functions of PADs and NETs, in particular, the involvement of PAD2 and PAD4 in the digestive system, from inflammatory to oncological diseases, along with related therapeutic prospects.

At present, most developing countries need to improve the quality of the built environment by means of large-scale infrastructure construction, thereby promoting rapid urbanization. The quality of the built environment (QU) and its environmental pressure (PU) have become our primary focus to achieve a globally acknowledged vision of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this study, we proposed an overall workflow by combining the proven urban sustainability (SU) assessment tool with the evaluation process and the analysis of the spatiotemporal dimension to investigate the urban characteristics of the 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta. Our results showed an upward trend of urban sustainability from 2010 to 2018, but there are still 19 cities with unsustainable urbanization processes. The megalopolis is rapidly progressing toward an imbalanced state. Specifically, the urban sustainability of the southern region performs better than the northern region, coastal cities perform better than the inland cities, and the regional peripheral cities perform better than the inner cities. Across the 41 cities in the delta, five different relational trends between QU and PU have been found to predict their future development. The results of this research will help decision-makers to coordinate the future development of regional integration between cities and to target the alleviation of the adverse chain reaction brought about by the situation of imbalance or further improving urban sustainability.

Neutrophils are the most abundant leukocyte population in the human circulatory system and are rapidly recruited to sites of inflammation. Neutrophils play a multifaceted role in intestinal inflammation, as they contribute to the elimination of invading pathogens. Recently, their role in epithelial restitution has been widely recognized; however, they are also associated with bystander tissue damage. The intestinal epithelium provides a physical barrier to prevent direct contact of luminal contents with subepithelial tissues, which is extremely important for the maintenance of intestinal homeostasis. Numerous studies have demonstrated that transepithelial migration of neutrophils is closely related to disease symptoms and disruption of crypt architecture in inflammatory bowel disease and experimental colitis. There has been growing interest in how neutrophils interact with the epithelium under inflammatory conditions. Most studies focus on the effects of neutrophils on intestinal epithelial cells; however, the effects of intestinal epithelial cells on neutrophils during intestinal inflammation need to be well-established. Based on these data, we have summarized recent articles on the role of neutrophil–epithelial interactions in intestinal inflammation, particularly highlighting the epithelium-derived molecular regulators that mediate neutrophil recruitment, transepithelial migration, and detachment from the epithelium, as well as the functional consequences of their crosstalk. A better understanding of these molecular events may help develop novel therapeutic targets for mitigating the deleterious effects of neutrophils in inflammatory bowel disease.

Abstract Psychosocial stress is a vital factor contributing to the pathogenesis and progression of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The contribution of intestinal macrophage autophagy to the onset and development of IBD has been widely studied. Herein, we investigated the underlying mechanism of psychosocial stress in an IBD mouse model pertaining to macrophage autophagy. Corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH) was peripherally administrated to induce psychosocial stress. For in vivo studies, dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) was used for the creation of our IBD mouse model. For in vitro studies, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was applied on murine bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) as a cellular IBD-related challenge. Chloroquine was applied to inhibit autophagy. We found that CRH aggravated the severity of DSS-induced IBD, increasing overall and local inflammatory reactions and infiltration. The levels of autophagy in intestinal macrophages and murine BMDMs were increased under these IBD-related inflammatory challenges and CRH further enhanced these effects. Subsequent administration of chloroquine markedly attenuated the detrimental effects of CRH on IBD severity and inflammatory reactions via inhibition of autophagy. These findings illustrate the effects of peripheral administration of CRH on DSS-induced IBD via the enhancement of intestinal macrophage autophagy, thus providing a novel understanding as well as therapeutic target for the treatment of IBD.

ABSTRACT Maintaining the health of seafarers is a difficult task during long-term voyages. Little is known about the corresponding changes in the gut microbiome-host interaction. This study recruited 30 seafarers undertaking a 6-month voyage and analyzed their gut microbiota using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Fecal untargeted metabolomics analysis was performed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Significant changes in the composition of the gut microbiota and an increased ratio of Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes at the end (day 180) of the 6-month voyage, relative to the start (day 0), were observed. At the genus level, the abundances of Holdemanella and Plesiomonas were significantly increased, while the abundance of Bacteroides was decreased. Predicted microbial functional analysis revealed significant decreases in folate biosynthesis and biotin metabolism. Furthermore, 20 differential metabolites within six differentially enriched human metabolic pathways (including arginine biosynthesis, lysine degradation, phenylalanine metabolism, sphingolipid metabolism, pentose and glucuronate interconversions, and glycine, serine, and threonine metabolism) were identified by comparing the fecal metabolites at day 0 and day 180. Spearman correlation analysis revealed close relationships between the 14 differential microbiota members and the six differential fecal metabolites that might affect specific human metabolic pathways. This study adopted a multi-omics approach and provides potential targets for maintaining the health of seafarers during long-term voyages. These findings are worthy of more in-depth exploration in future studies. IMPORTANCE Maintaining the health of seafarers undertaking long-term voyages is a difficult task. Apart from the alterations in the gut microbiome and fecal metabolites after a long-term voyage, our study also revealed that 20 differential metabolites within six differentially enriched human metabolic pathways are worthy of attention. Moreover, we found close relationships between the 14 differential microbiota members and the six differential fecal metabolites that might impact specific human metabolic pathways. Accordingly, preventative measures, such as adjusting the gut microbiota by decreasing potential pathobionts or increasing potential probiotics as well as offsetting the decrease in B vitamins and beneficial metabolites (e.g., d-glucuronic acid and citrulline) via dietary adjustment or nutritional supplements, might improve the health of seafarers during long-term sea voyages. These findings provide valuable clues about gut microbiome-host interactions and propose potential targets for maintaining the health of seafarers engaged in long-term sea voyages.

Three-dimensional (3D) information technology has become an important technical support in digital heritage preservation practice. However, due to the lack of systematic quantitative research, it is difficult to form a comprehensive understanding of the historic and cultural districts, from macro to micro. Our study aimed to establish a systematic 3D spatial diagnostic framework combining 3D scanning and SPSS data descriptive analysis and regression analysis for historic and cultural districts to promote sustainable historic and cultural area preservation. Taking Zhongshan Street in Qi County as an example, data statistical analysis was carried out on morphological feature data from the macro level of the district, the meso level of architecture, and the micro level of elements. The research conclusion shows that at the macro level the street form continues the main features of a traditional alley spatial skyline, height–width ratio, and sectional symbol language. At the meso level, the architecture reveals various periods of style in terms of the facade width and mathematical relationship between traditional architectural facades. At the micro level, architectural detailing explains the main reasons for the recent new construction being inconsistent with the historic and cultural district appearance. This quantitative diagnostic method can accurately analyze the current characteristics of historic and cultural districts and easily provide effective suggestions for follow-up preservation methods.

Abstract Blood–brain barrier (BBB) impairment is an early prevalent feature of multiple sclerosis (MS), and remains vital for MS progression. Microglial activation precedes BBB disruption and cellular infiltrates in the brain of MS patients. However, little is known about the function of microglia in BBB impairment. Here, microglia acts as an important modulator of BBB integrity in inflammatory demyelination. Microglial depletion profoundly ameliorates BBB impairment in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Specifically, miR‐126a‐5p in microglia is positively correlated with BBB integrity in four types of MS plaques. Mechanistically, microglial deletion of miR‐126a‐5p exacerbates BBB leakage and EAE severity. The protective effect of miR‐126a‐5p is mimicked and restored by specific inhibition of MMP9 in microglia. Importantly, Auranofin, an FDA‐approved drug, is identified to protect BBB integrity and mitigate EAE progression via a microglial miR‐126a‐5p dependent mechanism. Taken together, microglia can be manipulated to protect BBB integrity and ameliorate inflammatory demyelination. Targeting microglia to regulate BBB permeability merits consideration in therapeutic interventions in MS.

Polyimide based hollow composites were successfully prepared by combining the situ and template methods together. Firstly, the complete words (PPy) shell was covered on the surface of polystyrene nanoparticles, then the polyamide acid and PdCl2 were covered on the surface of the materials after the calcination. Finally, PI@ PPy/Pd hollow composites were obtained by a chemical process. The structure and composition of composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy X-ray diffraction, thermo gravimetric analyzer and differential scanning calorimeter, respectively. Palladium (Pd) nanoparticles were densely and uniformly anchored on the surface of PPy shell due to the coordination interaction between amino groups on PPy backbone and Pd2+ ions. They are ideal candidates as nanoreactors for heterogeneous catalysis due to their special structure. The catalytic performance of PI@ PPy/Pd hollow composites were studied by the reduction of NaBH4 as a reducing agent. The catalytic performance of composites was characterized by ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometer. The PI@PPy/Pd composites showed excellent catalytic performance in the reduction of methylene blue with sodium borohydride as reducing agent. The dye completely turned colorless as seen within 2.0 minutes.

However, little is known about changes in the structure and function of endophytic microorganisms in response to interactions between desert plants and their environment. In this study, we analyzed the lignification indices of young and mature branches during their development in a typical desert xerophyte, Nitraria tangutorum, and combined 16S and ITS high-throughput sequencing techniques to draw the following conclusions. Nitraria tangutorum accumulated more lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose content during lignification. In addition, the number of OTUs and diversity of endophytic bacteria and fungi were reduced. Both endophytic bacteria and fungi were governed by stochastic processes during the development of stems and branches of Nitraria tangutorum and were significantly affected by lignification indices. Meanwhile, the development of stems and branches increased the relative abundance of Cyanobacteria and Ascomycota, and the dominant bacterial genera were mostly positively correlated with the lignification indices. In addition, stem and branch lignification reduced endophytic microbial interactions in the relationship between the endophytic bacterial and fungal networks of Nitraria tangutorum. Functional prediction analysis further revealed that lignification of Nitraria tangutorum branches changed the metabolic function of endophytic bacteria. The results of this study indicate that plant endophytic microorganisms play an important role in resisting and adapting to adversity and provide support for related studies on microbial ecology in desert areas.

BackgroundColon cancer is one of the most frequent malignancies and causes high mortality worldwide. Exploring the tumor-immune interactions in the tumor microenvironment and identifying new prognostic and therapeutic biomarkers will assist in decoding the novel mechanism of tumor immunotherapy. BGN is a typical extracellular matrix protein that was previously validated as a signaling molecule regulating multiple processes of tumorigenesis. However, its role in tumor immunity requires further investigation.MethodsThe differentially expressed genes in three GEO datasets were analyzed, and BGN was identified as the target gene by intersection analysis of PPIs. The relevance between clinical outcomes and BGN expression levels was evaluated using data from the GEO database, TCGA and tissue microarray of colon cancer samples. Univariable and multivariable Cox regression models were conducted for identifying the risk factors correlated with clinical prognosis of colon cancer patients. Next, the association between BGN expression levels and the infiltration of immune cells as well as the process of the immune response was analyzed. Finally, we predicted the immunotherapeutic response rates in the subgroups of low and high BGN expression by TIS score, ImmuCellAI and TIDE algorithms.ResultsBGN expression demonstrated a statistically significant upregulation in colon cancer tissues than in normal tissues. Elevated BGN was associated with shorter overall survival as well as unfavorable clinicopathological features, including tumor size, serosa invasion and length of hospitalization. Mechanistically, pathway enrichment and functional analysis demonstrated that BGN was positively correlated with immune and stromal scores in the TME and primarily involved in the regulation of immune response. Further investigation revealed that BGN was strongly expressed in the immunosuppressive phenotype and tightly associated with the infiltration of multiple immune cells in colon cancer, especially M2 macrophages and induced Tregs. Finally, we demonstrated that high BGN expression presented a better immunotherapeutic response in colon cancer patients.ConclusionBGN is an encouraging predictor of diagnosis, prognosis and immunotherapeutic response in patients with colon cancer. Assessment of BGN expression represents a novel approach with great promise for identifying patients who may potentially benefit from immunotherapy.

Abstract Tungsten bronze transitional metal oxides are potential candidate anode material for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) owing to their open multichannel frame structure facilitating lithium transport and storage. Herein, the molybdenum reduction and oxygen deficiency are enhanced in micrometer‐scale Mo5O14‐type tungsten bronze structure Mo3Nb2O14−x (V‐MNO) that is prepared by a solid‐state reaction in vacuum. Neutron powder diffraction data indicate that oxygen vacancies are located at both three‐coordinated (µ3) oxygen sites around filled pentagonal rings and normally two‐coordinated (µ2) oxygen sites. As anode material for LIBs, benefiting from the increased Mo reduction, facilitating the electronic transport and oxygen vacancies without strong site preferences, widening the intratunnel, and opening up the intertunnel migration paths for lithium ions, V‐MNO displays enhanced electrochemical properties with an initial discharge capacity of ≈322 mAh g−1, a charge capacity of ≈274 mAh g−1, and a reversible capacity of ≈147.2 mAh g−1 (at 400 mA g−1) after 200 cycles. The LiCoO2//V‐MNO full cell shows a discharge capacity of 145.4 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles at 100 mA g−1. These results underline significance of controlling defect chemistry on the cationic reduction and oxygen vacancies in micrometer‐scale tungsten bronze transition metal oxides as an effective strategy for enhancing their storage performance as anode materials.

The essence of sustainable urbanization is to take a holistic approach to the harmonious development of economic, social, cultural and environmental protection. This paper applies the urban sustainability assessment system to analyze the characteristics of indicators related to the quality of the built environment and environmental pressure of 91 cities in four major megalopolises in China from 2010 to 2018. It also combines statistical methods to summarize the general features of urban development through a comprehensive urban performance evaluation by comparative and classification analysis for the purpose of scientific guidance on sustainable urbanization. The comparative results showed that in terms of urban sustainability, the Yangtze River Delta performed best, followed by JingJinJi, Pearl River Delta and Shandong Peninsula. Of which, the quality of built environment in JingJinJi and the environment pressure in the Shandong Peninsula require particular attention to improve and decrease, respectively. Moreover, cities can be grouped into six development types through performance clustering including three positive and three negative types. The characteristics of all types are summarized, and the performance of the specific indicators are detailed compared to serve as a guiding basis for making generic recommendations of sustainable urbanization.

Rapidly expanding urban areas urgently need to transform into sustainability-oriented developments. In this study, we manage to establish a spatio-temporal coupling coordinated development (CCD) model for urban environments by exploring the relationship between the quality of the built environment and environmental pressure. We empirically analyze the status of Shandong Peninsula, one of such urbanized regions, using national statistical data from 2008 to 2017. The results show that improving the CCD level of an urban environment is conducive to maintaining sustainable urbanization. Although the level of coupling and coordination in all cities of Shandong Peninsula has shown a trend of continuous improvement, nearly half of the cities are still in a transitional or imbalanced development state. This overall spatial pattern shows that the degree of coupling and coordination of coastal cities is significantly better than that of inland cities, which means there is uneven development across the region. Moreover, pressure on the environment is increasing due to excessive resource consumption and pollution with continued urban construction as the central cause. With this, countermeasures targeting the performance of different cities were discussed, including phased high-quality infrastructure, enhancing urban attractiveness, improving resource utilization efficiency, optimizing treatment and recycling technologies, etc. It is recommended that decision-makers establish an inter-city complementary system through regional planning to build an active cooperative relationship and achieve sustainable urbanization throughout the entire region.

Objective: Cluster needling at scalp acupoints has showed satisfying effects with acute cerebral ischemia in clinic whereas the mechanisms are not yet clear completely. This study investigated the influence of cluster needling at scalp acupoints on neurological function, as well as on neurofilament protein 200 (NF200) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) expression, in rats with acute cerebral ischemia. Methods: Fifty-four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned in equal numbers to the false operation (group F), model (group M), or cluster needling scalp acupuncture (group C) groups. Each group was divided into three subgroups, of six rats each, by acupuncture treatment time (24 h, 7 days, and 14 days). The rat local cerebral ischemia model was prepared using a modified suture occlusion method. Group C rats were treated by cluster needling scalp acupuncture, while groups F and M did not receive acupuncture treatment. Neurological effects were evaluated using the Longa score. NF200 and STAT3 expression were measured by western blotting. Results: At 24 h, there were no statistical difference between group C and group M in nerve function (P > .05). On days 7 and 14, nerve function scores in group C were significantly lower than that in group M (respectively were P .05). Conclusion: Cluster needling scalp acupuncture were efficient in improving nerve function scores in rats with cerebral ischemia, and promoting the recovery of motor function. These improvements were associated with increases in NF200 and STAT3 expression. Although the oral administration of Bifidobacterium longum (B. longum) relieves the signs of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in clinical settings, the mechanisms underlying its effects are unclear. In this study, we evaluated the precise effects of B. longum on IBS via regulation of Paneth cell function. We confirmed the beneficial effects of B. longum on defecation habits and visceral hypersensitivity in WAS rats. Further analysis revealed that B. longum enhanced mucosal repair, promoted lysozyme production, and ameliorated dysbiosis of the microbiota in WAS rats. These processes are closely correlated with Paneth cell functions. In vitro, we incubated primary cultured enteroids with B. longum and found that B. longum promoted the proliferation of these organoids; this may be attributed to the upregulation of the stem niche factors WNT3A and TGF-β, which are secreted by Paneth cells. Based on our findings, we propose that B. longum relieves IBS by restoring the antimicrobial activity and stem niche maintenance function of Paneth cells.

Though miRNAs have been reported to regulate bovine myoblast proliferation, but many miRNAs still need to be further explored. Specifically, miR-152 is a highly expressed miRNA in cattle skeletal muscle tissues, but its function in skeletal muscle development is unknown. Herein, we aimed to investigate the role of miR-152 in regulating bovine myoblast proliferation. Functionally, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, EdU assay, and flow cytometry detection results showed that miR-152 inhibited bovine myoblast proliferation. Mechanistically, we demonstrated transcription factor KLF6 was a target gene of miR-152 by means of bioinformatics software prediction and dual-luciferase report analysis, which had been demonstrated to be favorable for myoblast proliferation. Collectively, our research suggested that miR-152 inhibits bovine myoblast proliferation via targeting KLF6.

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical value of transient elastography (FibroScan) in the diagnosis of moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). MethodsA total of 245 patients with pathologically confirmed CHB by liver biopsy who underwent FibroScan and serological examinations in Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center from 2012 to 2015 were enrolled and divided into mild liver fibrosis group (S1-S2, 189 patients) and moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis group (S3-S3, 56 patients). The FibroScan value, aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index (APRI) ［(aspartate aminotransferase/upper limit of normal×100)/platelet count］, and levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) were measured. The t-test was used for comparison of normally distributed continuous data between groups, and the Mann-Whitney U rank sum test was used for comparison of non-normally distributed continuous data between groups. A logistic regression analysis was used for risk prediction. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, 95% confidence interval (95%CI), and area under the ROC curve (AUC) were used to investigate the accuracy of FibroScan in the diagnosis of moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis. The FibroScan value corresponding to the maximum of the sum of sensitivity and specificity was the optimal cut-off value for liver fibrosis. ResultsThere were significant differences in age, the levels of ALT, AST, and HA, APRI, and FibroScan value between the two groups (all P＜0.05). The univariate analysis showed that the severity of liver fibrosis was associated with the measured FibroScan value, HA level, and APRI (OR=2.56, 1.03, and 31.73, all P＜0.001), and the multivariate analysis showed that only FibroScan value was associated with moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis (OR=2.25, P＜0.001). The AUCs of FibroScan, HA, and APRI in the diagnosis of moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis were 0.985 (95%CI:0.969-1.000), 0.842 (95%CI:0.774-0.911), and 0.868 (95%CI:0.813-0.922), respectively, at cut-off values of 11.65, 104.4, and 0.69, respectively. In the diagnosis of moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis, FibroScan, HA, and APRI had sensitivities of 98.9%, 96.3%, and 96.3%, specificities of 85.7%, 55.4%, and 48.2%, positive predictive values of 95.9%, 87.9%, and 86.3%, and negative predictive values of 96.0%, 81.6%, and 79.4%. ConclusionFibroScan has a high clinical value in the diagnosis of moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis and plays an important role in early identification of liver fibrosis and accurate evaluation of fibrosis degree.

Robotic tectonics have been integrated into the architectural profession through automated construction for more than a decade, advancing sustainability initiatives in the industry and increasing the quality of building construction. Over the years, avant-garde architects have explored the feasibility of this new design paradigm through the integration of newly-developed digital design software into automated construction. This robotic digital workflow continues to push designers to re-think the complete architecture process (from design conception to physical construction) and guides the building industry towards more precise, efficient, and sustainable development. However, in the current environment of architectural education, professional courses can be fragmented, thematic, and overly academic. Such content is not inherently compatible with the latest technological developments. The lack of understanding and application of digital technological can subsequently lead to the lack of sustainable development in architectural education. In this paper, we aim to introduce a new didactic pedagogical approach that is reliant on the principles of robotic tectonics and is defined through linear development in four distinct, developmental stages (based on information gleaned from four “Robotic Tectonics” workshops and various other rich teaching practices). This pedagogical framework provides interdisciplinary knowledge to architecture students and enables them to use advanced digital tools such as robots for automated construction, laying the groundwork for the discovery of new and complex building processes that will redefine architecture in the near future.
